Highway No. 2 divided St. Clair Beach from Pike Creek. It also separated the rich from the poor. On the one side were wealthy suburbanites, mostly businessmen from Windsorís then-thriving car industry. On the other were the farming families insitu for centuries. And we, the trailer park people, were stuck in the middle. We were shunned by both sides, so we trailer kids, the children of autoworkers and hair dressers, formed our own clique. What with the highway on one side and a big storm ditch on the other you could almost say we were a gated community.
