It’s been months since we’ve been to the cinema together; longer in fact. So tonight we went to see The King’s Speech. Quite apart from the fact it’s a fine film, it was such a pleasure to sink into a comfortable chair and be surrounded by other people who were all there for the same purpose. The lights go down and we’re all transported to another time and place. I read once that cinema is perhaps the last example of collective dreaming that Western cultures engage in. Tonight, it was a total pleasure to surrender and allow ourselves to dream.
