Arms reaching, fingers digging into the keys, I am reminded of my first piano teacher, Sharon March, making me lift my arms and push my fingers into the keys. I wasn’t sure what Sharon was about, because everybody knew Jerry Lee Lewis could play standing on his head, and he sounded just fine. Oh, but I am sleepy. I became sick suddenly this weekend, perhaps a small warning Friday night, worse Saturday, full-fledged by Sunday evening. Even now my voice is pathetic and I have a wretched cough. And I ache. I stayed home from work, which I never do.
