I remember that my father’s feet were small, but wide. He wore an 8˝ EEE. He wore these heave ankle-length shoes we called brogans. When I do a search on the word, “brogan,” I get the right description, but I get a picture of something that looks little like the heavy leather lace-up boot my father wore. When he was younger he wore Romeos – low slung leather slippers popular back then. As he got older, he stayed with sock feet. He also had a pair of oxfords for church. However he never gave up the brogans as his go-to shoe.
